Dr. William L. Burkhart is a 3rd generation family physician who has been practicing medicine for nearly 30 years. He has been in private practice with Summit Medical Group since 1995.
Bill is an active member of the community and has served, or is serving on numerous boards including the UT Chancellor’s Alumni Board, UT Band Alumni — serving as President of the National Alumni Association from 2005-2012, University of Tennessee College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board, has been a member of Knoxville Christian Arts Ministries since 2009 and is currently on their Board of Directors. Bill is a member of the Tennessee Wind Symphony playing percussion with emphasis on timpani and drums. He was recognized as a lifetime member honoree of the UT Pride of the Southland Band in 2007. Additionally, he is a member of several professional societies including the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, the Tennessee Medical Association, Tennessee Academy of Family Practice, and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Medicine, Department of Family Practice at the UT Medical Center.
Bill and his wife, Jeannine, have had a busy life raising four active sons and are members at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church.< Back to Leadership Page
