Terra’s double life finds a singular purpose
Involved with the wrong crowd
“I began to act like everyone else, and I got involved with the wrong crowd. I became someone I didn’t even know. I was living two separate lives: I was a good girl at home, but then I’d go to the streets and act like I didn’t have a family that cared about me.” Terra became part of a gang in Knoxville. She was involved in multiple robberies, finally getting arrested and sent to jail at the age of 21.
Set apart for God’s glory
Released on probation, Terra came to KARM and found a place at Serenity. From that day on, everything changed. “God has been working in me in such a miraculous way!” Terra smiles. “When I was younger, I was on fire for the Lord, and today, it’s like He never left. I heard the Lord say, ‘I know the plans I have for you.’ I belonged to Him this whole time! He set me apart for a reason, and I’m just so thankful that now I see that.”
Celebrating restored relationships
Terra is now working and has started back to college. She’s playing music and writing poetry again, even singing on the worship team at her church. And thankfully, she’s celebrating a restored relationship with her family. “We’re closer than ever before. I see Him moving in my family’s life, and I thank Him for everything I’ve been through, because if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be able to appreciate what I have today.” Terra is also grateful for those at Serenity who took the time to care for and disciple her. “Without KARM, I’d probably be dead, honestly,” she says, shaking her head. “But God separated me from that. All along, it was Him saving me.”
